If you’ve seen my recent posts, you know that I’ve been writing a lot about what fast fashion is and why it is bad, and ways you can stop the fast fashion industry. If you haven’t read that post go check it out right here: https://www.thesustainablesunflower.com/post/the-truth-behind-fast-fashion-that-they-don-t-want-you-to-know One of the best ways to shop a more ethical and sustainable way, is upcycling! (Also, I just want to say that i am sorry that i didn't post at all last week, I had a really crazy and hectic week, and didn’t have time to write, but this week I am getting right back on my writing schedule!)
What Is Upcycling?
Upcycling is taking something old or about to be thrown out and turning it into something totally new! One of the most popular ways to upcycle is upcycling clothing!
Here are some examples of upcycled clothing:
Why Should We Upcycling?
A lot of people when they see a piece of clothing with stains, or rips, or if they don’t fit, will just throw them away, or donate them. Of course, if you donate them, that’s good, but if you throw them away, you are contributing to all the waste in the world. Also, when you upcycle you are giving an old piece of clothing s new life, and may even turn it into something you like better than how it originally was!
If you would like some more examples on how to upcycling clothing, I would suggest checking out this youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/coolirpa and watching her “Thrift Flips” and make sure to stay tuned for my next posts! I post a new blog post every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and sometimes on Sunday!
